St. Mary’s Star of the Sea is much more than a church building. It is a community of people — people who gather in faith, support one another, celebrate together, accompany one another through difficult times and help to make Christ present in our local community. Whether you have lived in Sandymount all your life, or have recently moved into the area, attend Mass regularly or occasionally, have returned to the Church after some time away, or are simply beginning to get to know us, you are very welcome. There is no single way to be a parishioner. People participate in parish life in different ways and at different stages of their lives. What matters to us is that you know you are welcome, you belong and there is a place for you here. We warmly encourage you to join us whenever you can. If you have been away from the Church for some time, please know that you are welcome to return. You do not need to explain your absence or wait for a particular invitation. The invitation is already there. |

Being A Part of Parish Life - How Can You Participate?
The most valuable contribution you can give as an active parishioner is simply being
present. You can participate in parish life through:

- Attendance — joining us for Mass, prayer, parish celebrations and gatherings.
- Presence — simply being part of the community and getting to know the people
around you.
- Company — offering friendship, conversation and companionship, particularly to
those who may be lonely or isolated.
- Prayer — praying for the St. Mary’s Star of the Sea parish, our wider Sandymount
community and one another.
- Support — helping another parishioner or neighbour when the opportunity arises.
- Contribution — supporting the parish financially, where you are able.
- Time and expertise — sharing your skills or becoming involved as a parish
volunteer.
- Presence — simply being part of the community and getting to know the people
around you.

Every contribution matters. People's circumstances are different. Some can give time; others cannot.
