BAPTISM

Baptisms occur on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month, after the 12 noon Mass.  We are able to accommodate 4 Baptisms on the day.
A Baptism Request Form and Privacy Statement will need to be completed and can be emailed to you upon request.  This can also be collected at the Parish Office.  Once the completed form is submitted to the Parish Office along with a copy of the child’s Birth Certificate, either in person or by email, the date for the Baptism will be confirmed.  Please note that we need BOTH signatures of the parents on the form. If, by chance, you are not located in the Parish, we simply need a letter of consent from your Parish Priest to which you are affiliated.

On the day of the Baptism, you will need to bring a Baptism Candle, (we have candles for sale in the Parish Office) and a Baptism Shawl. A contribution of  €100 is always appreciated but certainly not mandatory.
We hope this information helps and we look forward to hearing from you.

MARRIAGE

A Catholic wedding is a prayer of the Church community addressed to God and not simply a private celebration for family and friends. A celebration of a sacrament, it is a joyous, yet serious encounter with our loving God. St. Mary’s conforms to the norms of the Archdiocese of Dublin in the celebration of weddings. These guidelines help to ensure a beautiful celebration that is consistent with liturgical norms. We are committed to helping you craft a celebration that is both dignified and joyful. Your celebration will provide countless memories for your families and guests to cherish for years to come. Please contact the Parish Office for further information. 01 668 3316.

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK AND LAST RITES

The sacrament is not just for those in imminent danger of death, but for all Catholics whose “health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age"
It’s usually not held simply with the priest and the person to be anointed, but is often celebrated in parish settings, homes and nursing homes, with family and friends in attendance. It’s now focused on trust in God—for whatever happens—and on healing—in whatever form that may take.
Please contact the Parish Office should there be a need to initiate the sacrament.  01 668 3316
The Catholic last rites traditionally consist of three specific sacraments administered in a particular sequence (when the individual is conscious and able):
  • Penance / Reconciliation (Confession): If the person is conscious and able, the priest hears their confession and grants absolution, clearing their soul of sin. If the person is unconscious but previously received absolution or is invincibly hindered, the Anointing of the Sick still offers conditional spiritual relief.
  • Anointing of the Sick: The priest anoints the person's forehead and hands with blessed oil (Oil of the Sick), praying for spiritual strength, comfort, and the forgiveness of sins. (While historically called Extreme Unction, today this sacrament is also given for serious illness or before major surgeries and is not exclusively reserved for the dying hour).
  • Viaticum: Holy Communion given to the dying person as "food for the journey" to nourish their soul for the transition to eternal life.
